Virgin Galactic Carries Out Second Supersonic Test Flight

Le Bas International continues to assist our commercial space industry clients with numerous air charter needs. Virgin Galactic’s newest space plane has taken to the skies again! The suborbital SpaceShipTwo vehicle, known as VSS Unity, completed its second-ever powered test flight on May 29, 2018 soaring high over California’s Mojave Desert. The rocket motor burned for the planned 31 seconds and propelled Unity to a speed of Mach 1.9 and an altitude of 114,500 ft.

World’s Longest Flight to Launch in October

At a scheduled 18 hours 45 minutes in length, and a distance of 9,537 miles, this “Singapore-New York” connection will be the world’s longest passenger service utilizing an Airbus A350-900ULR. A variant of the A350 XWB, the aircraft is specially designed for ultra-long-haul flights (“ULR” stands for “Ultra Long Range”), its extra fuel capacity giving it a maximum range of 19 hours and 9,700 nautical miles (11,163 miles).
