The legendary residence was built by famous architect, Andrew Rebori in 1938 and was home to shoe heiress and sculptor, Lillian Florsheim, who purchased the place in 1946. The famed house has been called one of the “sexiest homes in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine. It is a significant landmark of the city. Oozing with architectural brilliance, the home is 4500 square feet and is in the ideal gold coast location with 2 living rooms, a huge outdoor garden, and lots of open gathering spaces.
The historic residence actually has two houses: the Main House and the Guest House which are connected together via the kitchen.
The Main House has 3 BR/3B and a den (6 or 7 total beds), the Guest House has 2BR/2B (2 or 3 total beds), combined for a total of 5BR/5B + den with sofa bed.
The Main House entrance features a small guest bedroom with 2 full beds and full bath/shower, as well as a large den/office with fireplace and a pull-out queen size couch for 2. Upstairs on the 2nd floor is a very large entertaining Living Room with a 7′ Steinway Grand Piano and a formal Dining Room. On the third floor is the Master Bedroom with king size bed (can be converted to two full beds) and full bath as well as another guest room with two full size beds (can be combined together) and full bath.
The Guest House features a small bedroom/bath on the 1st floor with 1 or 2 single beds. The 2nd floor includes a massive Great Room/Art Studio with 20′ soaring ceilings, large hearth, and a Media Room with flatscreen TV. On the third floor is the Master Bedroom with queen size bed and full bath.
Combined, the Main House and Guest House can comfortably sleep 6-11 people.
In terms of entertaining, art events and concert performances, the Living Room with its Steinway Grand Piano can host 40-50 people and the Great Room/Art Studio + Media Room could easily fit a party of 15-20 more, ideal for conferences or large family gatherings. An outdoor gathering could also be hosted in the Garden. The Garden features a Zen-like Koi and Turtle Pond.
